READING

This is a sample progress goal to help you understand the Kumon award system as it relates to a student's individual goals and progress

Platinum Award (ASHR 3): Studying material that is approximately three years ahead of the KIS based upon the student’s grade level.


Gold Award (ASHR 2): Studying material that is approximately two years ahead of the KIS based upon the student’s grade level.

Silver Award (ASHR 1): Studying material that is approximately six months to one year ahead of the KIS based upon the student’s grade level.


Bronze Award (KIS): Studying material at the Kumon International Standard based upon the student’s grade level.


J by 6: This line indicates when the student is on track for a high academic standard, known as the "path to J by 6." This award is given to students who reach Level J before completing the 6th grade.


Along the way, students may be celebrated if they

reach Level C before completing 1st grade (C by 1) and/or Level G before completing 4th grade (G by 4).
