The purpose of a personal statement is to communicate pertinent information about the writer to interested readers. This workshop is designed to help writers learn how to draft a personal statement. Determine how your story is different. Explain how your experiences shaped your life. Writers use the personal statement to share their stories and describe those experiences in detail. This workshop walks writers through the process, explaining step-by-step how to construct compelling personal statements. Topics covered in the
course are: content selection, story outline, statement structure, drafting and re-drafting, and editing for grammar, style and voice.
